Just joined and i just bought my first motor-home. I bought a Newmar 3550 off of ebay It has about a 100k miles on it but it looks like new. I am going to take the train to Dallas Tuesday to pick it up. I only gave 22k for it and all the others i say were going for twice that much. I will post more after i pick it up Tuesday

East coast trip

Posted 08-16-2012 at 08:11 AM by j2m2

We are well into our tour of the east coast of Canada. We spent a couple of days in Woodstock, NB before heading down to Grand Manan Island. I was an exchange student there 31 years ago. I googled the name of my host from then & lo & behold he was there. I contacted him the day before we were due to arrive on Grand Manan and he was happy to meet us later that evening. He gave us a heads up of some places we should go and we spent the next 5 days exploring the island. I also went to visit...

a/c info for 2004 Gulfstream 8.1 workhorse chassis

Posted 08-02-2012 at 02:01 PM by randyvest

  • Original compressor- Delphi 7135
  • This is the same compressor that goes on a 2004 Chevy Blazer 6 cylinder
  • Advance Auto Parts sells the Delphi part # CS0121
  • I used a Global 6511338 from Auto Supply Co. – this was recommended by Doyle’s A/C & Radiator
  • There was a small difference in pulley diameters from original compressor to the one I used
  • I used a 108” 6 groove serpentine belt-this belt works fine on the original compressor or the Global.

Installing the 360 RV Universal Holding Tank Roof Vent Siphon Cap

Posted 07-14-2012 at 09:28 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 07-29-2014 at 06:58 AM by DriVer

One of the most important systems on our recreational vehicles are the holding tanks. Some RVs will have multiple holding tanks and what is placed in the tanks needs to be vented for a number of reasons. If there is any pressure in a tank and a person opened a blade on a toilet, that could be a very unpleasant experience - therefore venting prevents any surprises.

Although most RVs have 2 tanks,...

Ottawa tour

Posted 07-13-2012 at 06:36 PM by j2m2

We toured downtown Ottawa today. I think we picked the hottest weather to arrive in. After doing some online checking we decided to take the OC Transpo. We also agreed this was the least confusing as we had gone out last night for a tour around the parliament buildings. After getting turned around 4 times even with Onstar guiding us, we were very stressed out. No parking whatsoever, streets that you could drive into but could not enter further down (don't ask), and narrow roads (tough with a truck...

Our trip east

Posted 07-12-2012 at 05:36 PM by j2m2

We are finally & truly on our way to the east coast. We have had alot of driving in the last few days.
We left Winnipeg on Sat July 7th. We drove to Fort Frances, Ont and spent the night there at Pithers Point Park. A very nice municipal campground. We had a lovely community fire that night. The next morning we drove the #1 hiway to Nipigon, Ont. What a wonderful drive, lake views, hills, trees, very pretty. We stayed 2 nights at Stillwater Tent & Trailer park. What a lovely place.

Our trip

Posted 07-09-2012 at 06:54 AM by j2m2

We are on the road, finally. After a few family stops ( seems it took forever). We left Winnipeg on Saturday July 7. What a nice drive down to Fort Frances, Ont. There are a lot of lakes in that area. We spent the night at the town operated camp grounds along the shore of Rainy River. Pithers Point Park was very nice and relatively cheap ($31), we had to dump at the municipal dump as we were leaving but that was ok. We had water and hydro hookups with a communal fire pit that was quite...

Upgrading a older 5th wheel

Posted 07-07-2012 at 08:21 PM by jeffminsc

Ok here it goes.... I love tinkering with things. I am the type of person who loves to take things apart and put them back together. so I decided to do some upgrades on the camper I got not long ago. It's a 1994 skyline aljo it is in good shape for the most part. The breaks need some work, the fridge needs replaced, water pump, and some running lights. Yes I could go back with original or close parts but me being me I think I will do some higher tech items. This will not be a fast moving blog as...

Buyer Beware III

Posted 07-01-2012 at 06:40 PM by bgc44a
Updated 07-11-2012 at 08:36 PM by bgc44a

Well, Albany RV kept the MH from May17 to June 1. They managed to fix 3 items out of 12. We picked it up and left on a trip to Texas that had been planned for weeks. On the first day out the Fridge quit and we had to throw out a lot of food. Spent the next 2 weeks looking for and buying enough ice to keep it cool. Tried to buy a new control board in several places without any luck. On the third day we discovered that there was 0 P.S.I. in the right inside rear dual. It appears that there was never...

The best of the best repair shop, great experience!!!

Posted 06-30-2012 at 05:19 PM by cubbie02

My husband and I are brand new Safari Trek owners. We have a 1998 24 ft. diesel, with a cockatoo on the back. We bought the rig in Norfolk, NJ and made our way across the country to the Lake Superior region of WI. What a trip. We had fuses popping often, a ride that was fraught with yawl, a big (are there little?) blow out, and plenty of time to think about what could go wrong next.
Even prior to our journey I had read online (I think it was IRV2, or a trek site) about a couples’ truly...
