Using CradlePoint Router in RV From Home Office

Posted 04-17-2010 at 07:24 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 04-17-2010 at 09:34 PM by DriVer

Well, we're getting the rig ready to get back out on the road. Next Tuesday we're off to Perry, GA. We are going to attend the Georgia Winnebago/Itasca Travelers (WIT) State Rally at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter.

Ok .... that's nice ... let me back up a few steps here, you see .. last night I had a dream .....

Just recently I obtained a CradlePoint MBR1000 Mobile Broadband Router which I did not get around to setting up until very recently. I just...

RV Tires- how old will you go?

Posted 04-14-2010 at 05:43 PM by RVTIREGUY
Updated 04-14-2010 at 09:04 PM by NLOVNIT (Remove advertising)

In todays Rv environment, one of the most talked about issues as far as tires are concerned is tire age. I see thousands of RV owners and the most common saying I hear goes something like this. "The RVer two spaces over told me that i should get 7 to 8 years out of my tires." Serious, this is what I get told on a day to day basis. The raw truth of the "age" issue is this. Depending on how severe or hot a climate you live in, can even be caused by severe cold, will determine how...

Good weather, finally

Posted 04-03-2010 at 11:53 PM by robodoc (2010 Ellipse 42AD)

Hey, I finally got to get the rig out and look closely at the outside. I decided that Wax was not in the cards... I wanted something longer lasting. I tested both Voom Gold and Liguid Glass on the back and decided to go with the Voom for ease of application and shine. It is truely spray on and wipe to a shine. I will use the Liqiud Glass on the front end in 2-3 coats for extra protection and also on the wheels.

Overall, the paint is well done, there are a few spotsthat didn't get buffed...

Mr. Robert Harbin, President of FCCC pops in just to say hello

Next up, "SCR 101." SCR is an emission control system that has been developed and applied toward meeting 2010 emission control requirements. By the use of Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) exhaust gas flows into the device and is scrubbed and continues to flow downstream to an Aftertreatment System (ATD). The ATD is the device...

First trip out - preparations are underway

Posted 03-13-2010 at 05:36 PM by TMarsh

Well, the tires are new and the camper is now off getting the "once over" by a brake pro to assure us that it will be safe to go. Plans are for the first shake down run April 9-10 to a small campground just a few miles down the road. Wish us luck as we discover how much we really don't know yet!

(Mis)Adventure and Gripe

Posted 03-11-2010 at 07:49 PM by Retread

Well we were trying to hustle back to Oregon from Hemet California last Sunday pulling a 33' 5th wheel. Ran into a couple of problems with closed entrances (I210 onto CA 57 and CA 57 onto CA 71) so got behind schedule which increased the hustle factor. Then on I5 (around MP 371) blew a trailer tire. Had been planning to replace them all in May since almost 5 years old. Fortunate it did not happen on some city bridge with no break down lane.

Anyway pulled off next exit (nothing but...

Hampshire Rocks

Posted 03-02-2010 at 11:23 AM by geaugeausmom

After the utter desolation of Death Valley, the lush green forests and the mountains of Tahoe National Park were sheer ecstasy. I found Hampshire Rocks Campground shortly after crossing over into California.

I found a spot beside a deep pool and river, surrounded by trees and grass and flowers. It was sort of tight--couldn't open one of the slides all the way--but so much beauty could not be bypassed for fully opened slides. We spent the next 14 days there, including Fourth of...

Death Valley

Posted 03-01-2010 at 10:11 AM by geaugeausmom

When watching TV or movies or reading books, I've gotten the impression that the distance between LV and Reno, or LV and LA was relatively short. I mean, people are always jumping into their cars and a short time later are playing the slots. 'Tain't true.

I by-passed LV about mid-afternoon, on the look-out always for a fuel stop. I had been warned numerous times by fellow RVers not to stop in Tonapah for any reason. Well, guess what; I pulled into the casino parking lot in Tonopah...

RV show at NC state fairgrounds

Posted 02-28-2010 at 05:45 PM by TMarsh

Well this was a first try... We attended the RV Exhibition at the state fair ground this weekend and it was a 'mixed bag' for us. Since we already have our rv and rig, we weren't shopping for a new RV...so seeing all the newest was nice, but not that exciting. We were really surprised at the low number of vendors that were offering rv-specific items for sale. It *was* great to get a chance to see so many "one tank trip" campgrounds offering discounts or perks from the show. We are...

Getting Started

Posted 02-24-2010 at 07:27 PM by TMarsh

We bought a 'gently used' 2001 Cameo LXI (Carriage) fifth wheel, 32' and 5.5 tons dry wt. The first thing we learned was that the truck we had didn't have enough 'oomph' to pull this one with assurance anywhere but flat land with no traffic. Not good. We've spent weeks cruising the forums and looking at options and have finally purchased a truck that will do the job! For the last few days, DH has been fine-tuning the hitch in our Ford F350 Diesel dually to pull our behemouth....

Long, long ago...

Posted 02-23-2010 at 11:43 AM by geaugeausmom

...I started this blog. For some reason, probably sheer laziness, I stopped writing, and I have actually missed writing.

I'm back at Gila Bend, back home, it seems. I have so many friends here that GB now seems to be my winter home. After this horrid winter in Virginia, it is good to be where there is warm sunshine. Also, back and knee problems have forced me to stay close to the RV, and my dear, good friends have seen to it that I am cared for.

I've probably written this...

I got it!!

Posted 02-15-2010 at 05:27 PM by robodoc (2010 Ellipse 42AD)

Well, this last Thursday we went to Forest City IA. Desite the setbacks and the snow we took delivery of the "RV". For a small dealer in a small town, Lichtsinn does a great job. I didn't get to meet Ron, hewas out of town. The Punchlist was not very long after the walkthru. The Biggest problem was on the back of the armrest that pulls out for the sectional sofa (one of the greatest features). there was a miscut on the ultraleather. Pam, my wife, noticed it early in the process,...

The Great 2010 Myrtle Beach Snowstorm!

Posted 02-13-2010 at 04:13 PM by DriVer (Welcome To My Blog!)
Updated 02-14-2010 at 09:05 PM by DriVer

2/12/2010 At lot happened today, the start of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver in conjunction with the “Southern Snowstorm” of 2010. From what was seen on the Weather Channel, Dallas, TX received something like 12 inches of snow and the storm kept on moving Eastward dumping snow on Jackson MS, Atlanta GA, Columbia SC and Charleston, SC. Our Weather Alert Radio’s tones went off sometime early yesterday and advised of a Winter Storm Warning. At that time it was still dry out and one might have questioned...
