Latest updates to the coach

Posted 01-18-2010 at 09:15 PM by Robsons

So, there have been several updates and changes...

I abandoned the idea of towing 4-down. Managed to sell the tow bar and cabling on Ebay and didn't lose any money.

Bought a Tow Master tow dolly w electric brakes. Also bought a spare tire. I installed a Prodigy brake controller in the MH in 40 minutes or less (MH already was wired for it).

Now, I can tow our minivan without doing any mods to it which reduced my to-do list pretty substantially. Plus, I should have little trouble getting most of my $ back on the trailer when we get back from our trip.

Leaving for Allentown, PA in 13 days...

    Dave,

    Found the blog of your trip. We won't be in the Keys until March 29-April 4. But we will be in Jackson, WY in April and Yosemite in July so we may see you then.

    We are only about 30 miles east of Allentown PA right off I-78 so feel free to camp out on our big cul-de-sac on your first night (I'll be on a Boy Scout trip 1/29-1/30 but any other night is fine).

    Good luck and shoot me a PM if you have any questions on locations to take the kids.

    Tom

    Hi There;
    I'm looking for a way to tow a car, and don't like the idea that I can't reverse with 4 wheels down and a tow bar. This looks like an easy option. Is it easy to pull? How about backing up? Nice post and thanks for the information.

    someone in another forum mentioned that towing their sienna mini van got front end body damage from the tow dolly due to turns and the body flaring out near the wheels - something to be careful of - perhaps their dolly was too small for that car. we also need to figure this out.
