What I like and dislike about my Tuscany 4076

Posted 03-25-2021 at 06:04 PM by Rwbrown3

The biggest thing I do not like about my Tuscany is the invisible "shield" on the front of the coach, it has molded as many of the them do and will need to be removed, that'll be a pain but something I plan on taking care of this summer. Secondly is the cost of any work being performed. The big truck shops seem to charge a premium for any work on an RV and I can understand some things require a contortionist to get to but other things are exactly the same as a commercial truck. Fortunately I do like turning wrenches and this coach I feel is going to give me a crash course in diesel and coach mechanics.
Another thing I do not like about this coach, and I say this coach because I have not been in any other coach ever, is the intricacies involved with rewiring or upgrading anything. for example my coach is a 2007 and has the original entertainment system which in my opinion is way way out dated. I upgraded the TV, changed out the dvd/vcr for a blue-ray player, and installed a yamaha digital audio/video receiver. The original setup relied heavily on coax cable, the new stuff relies on HDMI cables, cables that are a booger to run the three feet from the where the equipment is to where the TV is. I still haven't been able to connect to the sub woofer, as it sits in a cabinet near the dining table about 10 feet away. I do not feel like taking the ceiling apart or removing wall panels.
I do like the quality throughout, the wood is wood, the tile floors are real. There are no squeaks or rattles. The soft ceiling deadens sound. The furniture is really nice, but the material wears out really really fast, I have to get two Euro-recliners redone or replaced, I'll let my wife decide that one.
I like the ride, it's soft and easy to drive. The cockpit is like a space ship though with buttons everywhere, some are tactile, like the washer wiper and engine brake button, others not so much. It took a bit of practice to navigate around the info center but it's easy now and gives alot of information, everything from date and time, to turbo boost and lots more.
I like the three camera system, though the stock system was black and white. I called the company that made it and they had a plug and play HD color replacement which I bought and installed easily in an afternoon.
I like the access to spare parts. I've been collecting spare parts and tools since ownership. I've bought a fan, the fan bearing, belts, filters, power steering pump, alternator. and a few other things I'm sure of. I just want to be as prepared as possible.
I like the washer/dryer, though when the spin cycle kicks in you'd think a tornado was approaching! It is nice to be able to do laundry on the fly! I like the ability to have satellite tv. My satellite dish is a king and tracks satellites while on the move. I haven't gotten a satellite receiver yet, that's next on the list.
I've decided to hold off on having the AC lines fixed. I will try to do it myself this summer but if I don't I won't lose sleep over it, I'll use the house AC units to keep us cool.
I am looking at tires right now as my Michelins have very small fine cracks in the sidewall. Right now I'm reading so many views about whether it's bad or nothing to worry about. I am going to take the coach to a tire place and see if they need replacing and if Michelin will offer any warranty for them. They are 5 years old.
