Edmonton AB Freightliner

Posted 03-25-2021 at 05:44 PM by Rwbrown3

About an hour west of Edmonton the trip took a turn for the worse. While driving the high temp light came on and an alarm sounded, I pulled off the highway, turned off the coach and walked to the back of the coach. I didn't smell anything out of the ordinary and there wasn't any smoke. My wife immediately called roadside assistance, fortunately we bought that with the coach. I pulled up the floor to look at the motor and saw a shredded serpentine belt. After a couple of hours a huge tractor with a low trailer pulled up in front of us and pulled the coach onto the flatbed. The driver was awesome, I wish I could recall his name, I still have his card. The towing went seamless. No out of pocket money for the tow!
We got to the Freightliner shop in Edmonton late in the day and they let us stay in the RV in the yard. The water pump belt was still good, so maybe the RV was still "cautiously" driveable. The next day they inspected the Caterpillar engine and found the AC compressor had seized and destroyed the belt, they overnighted the part from Memphis and Saturday night they had it on, changed the oil, lubed the chassis and let us grab a quick nap in the parking lot. We were pressed for time to get back to work by the time we left Edmonton Freightliner a little over 2000 dollars lighter mind you. One of our AC hoses was leaking and they could not charge the AC system. We didn't have time to wait on a hose and left without the AC working, which was no big deal, we had been using the roof AC the entirety of the trip. We made it to Homer without any further breakdowns or setbacks.

Max force 10 international. Had just purchased our 2012 Monaco knight with 21000,+~. Same issue compressor locked up ate the belt. Was able to make it to shop near by to get repaired. So fortunate I was close to my mechanic.
