03 journey 39wd vs 04 fleetwood revolution

hey guys,
Considering moving from 05 damon intruder 377f, v-10, to a diesel.

Currently looking at an 03 journey 39wd, 330hp, 41k miles, 1200 hrs gen

Or

04 revolution 38b, 350hp, 8k miles

the revolution is 20k more

i'm looking for feed back from you winnebago owners.

the only flaw(that I'm awear of ) in the journey is a fracture in the side of the coach around the rear slide out.

dealer claims that this is a common flaw and that it will not spread.

so what do you guys think....the 03 fits my budget better.....but the 04 is not out of my budget

im leaning toward the 03 with an extended warranty.

Thanks for all your input

I have owned 3 Fleetwood products in the past, and looked at both before I bought my 03 Journey DL. I've been very happy with my decision for 45K miles and 6+ years.

We certainly love our Journey but I've also admired the Revolution. At one time, the Revolutions were made on the same line as American Coach's which are considered high end DP's. Bottom line is the Revolution is a higher end rig than a Journey and will likely have more 'luxury' features.
Not sure about that year, but I believe I have seen some Revolutions with the rubber (TPO) roof vs. the fiberglass roof on the Journey. The Revolution will likely have a side radiator vs. the rear radiator of the Journey. That is important to some folks, especially if you plan to do some of your own service...engine access is generally better with a side radiator configuration.

That said, consider that Winnebago is still very much in business and will likely survive the economic downturn. They do have a great reputation for customer service and you can get volumes of technical data on any thing they make from them.

While we really wanted to move up to a Vectra/Horizon, we have decided to keep our Journey. It continues to provide plenty of comfort and enjoyment. It is certainly a very solid and popular rig.

For many folks, floorplan is the deciding factor. Suggest you take both of them for a serious test drive.

Good luck with your decision. Please let us know what you decide.

I too have had 3 Fleetwood products, 1 Monaco and the current Winnebago Journey. I really like the way the Journey is put together and would buy another Winnebago product. I had a lot of problems with a Fleetwood Discovery--it was always in the shop for something. Good luck with your decision.
