I've seen several posts over the past several months on this topic but for the life of me I can't locate any. So here comes the question again. My dealer is imphatic that I order now in order to take advantage of the 06 frame and motor setup. OK, so....? I understand there is going to be a new sulfur for diesel restriction but how and will it really become an issue if I buy the 07 setup. (I'd spell chasis but I don't know how...just getting too old. ) PS...it's going to be a 36G Journey...

The 2007 engines will have to meet the higher emission standards beginning January 1, 2007. The 2006 engines do not have to comply with these higher standards. It requires additional equipment and tuning of the engines, to meet the 2007 emission standards. On the average the engine manufacturers have increased the engine prices for 2007 by nearly $10,000. So you should be able to negotiate a better deal on the 2006 models.

JK --

You can purchase an '07 coach with an '06 CAT C7 as long as the chassis was manufactured before 1/07.

The clincher will be that if you buy the new '07 emissions system it will cost $5-10K more.

There are 2 ways to verify if you are getting a '06 engine in an '07 coach:

1) If you have the last 6 digits of the VIN Freightliner can tell you when the chassis was built.

2) Price -- check to see if there was a price increase in the coach.

I can tell you that I have a '07 with the '06 engine. I ordered it August 29, 2006. The chassis was built June 29, 2006 by Freightliner.

The MSRP of my 34H was $164,738 with the CAT C7 option at $14,609. I don't know MSRP of the 36', but it shouldn't be much higher than the 34H. If either of these prices are higher by $5-10K my bet is you're buying the '07 engine setup.

My understanding was that Freightliner began building the '07 engine/chassis's beginning Oct 1, 2006 (Freightliner told me this when I was in Gaffney in April for Camp Freightliner).

When you order your new coach Winnebago should be able to tell you whether you will be getting the new '07 engine w/ emissions systems or an '06 without them.

Pls. let us know what you learn.

Good luck!
