Remove bed and engine cover. Might reach it from underneath if you have long thin arms. Rkl

I am assuming you have the CAT 3126 or C7. I don't know about the 3126 but the C7 has a serpentine belt that runs everything but the water pump which is a separate V belt. You can change the serpentine from underneath and while you have it off, you may as well change the water pump belt since you have to have the serpentine belt off to do that one. I found the serpentine easier to change by cutting an access hole in the top of the fan shroud which I use for cleaning the CAC and front side of the radiator.

As Doorguy says,
You can check it and change it from underneath but, it's one serious pain in the a$$. I've not done it yet but, cutting the hole in the top of the shroud is close to the top of the list on things to do. I just replaced both my belts and the entire radiator on our '04 Itasca Horizon 36GD with the C-7 CAT 330 HP and, while at it, I changed a few bearings in the tensioner and the idler. I'd have done the fan bearing but, I could not get it off. I should have been more persuasive.

Anyway, I'm assuming, which could be a mistake, that since you're asking about how to check the alternator belt, that you've not looked at your CAC (Charge Air Cooler) and Radiator on the engine side. If you're in there digging around with the belts etc. I'd definitely look at the fins of both of those units to see if, and how much they're clogged from any blow-by from the ole slobber tube. Good luck.
Scott

Doorguy is correct. There is one serpentine belt and one water pump belt. Below are the CAT and Freightliner part numbers. I've decide to carry a spare with me, not for me to install for the Roadside Assistance folks. I'm having mine replaced at Camp Freightliner in March along with some other catch up work. The coach is new to us last year.

Here is a good write up if you attempt on your own:

I also have a PDF of the routing of the serpentine belt from Freightliner but can't figure out how to add a pdf.

As always when in doubt call CAT or Frieghtliner with the VIN and they will get you what you need.

The Serpentine belt is a Freightliner part.
Freightliner#-0124730004 ($65 est)

Napa#-25-080716HD

The water pump belt is a Cat part.
