2005 Meridian Cold Weather Operation

Hi Winnebago Owners;
Thanks to those that replied for my frozen air brakes situation. Now I have the possibility of doing some below freezing camping and have more questions.
Last spring when I took delivery of this very nice motorhome I seem to recall reading somewhere that the fresh water system and both holding tanks are in the heated basement. I have no holding tank heating swithches like were on my 2003 Minnie. Can anyone verify that what I read last year is true?
Also I am currently, during the winter, parking the RV on cement for 2-3 weeks before taking a day trip with temperatures averaging 20-40 degrees F. I have read that the tires(22.5 Michelins) should not sit directly on cement; but should have a layer of cardboard/plywood between the tire and the cement. True or False?

Your tanks are heated thru the basement heat, which is forced hot air from the furnace. No tank heaters on the Winnies.

I would not worry about having your tires sit on concrete for 3 weeks. If you were sitting for 3 months, then some sort of vapor barrier might help.

I have a 2004 Journey ...

I have found that as long as I keep the LP furnace on that all the plumbing works fine as long as the overnight temps are about 10 degrees or higher ...

I was in some weather when the overnight temps were about -5 (with lots of wind) ... some of my plumbing was frozen so that no water came from some of the faucets in the morning ... I carry two "trouble lights" and a ceramic heater ... when I got up I plugged the trouble lights and the ceramic heater in ... the water was running from the faucets again in about 10 minutes ....

Been in some pretty cold weather without problems, like it was said as long as the furnace is on, or a light bulb in the bay with the water pump. Make sure you drain your water hose and waste hose. Electric water heater takes care of that situation. Not a bad idea to fill the coffee pot with water so if things do go bad at least you can have a hot cup of Java.
