2014 Meridian How can the in-dash Rand McNalley GPS unit be updated?

Can't find any way to get to an SD card. Called Rand Mc and they want $99 to update the unit by satelite. Has anyone updated this unit some other way?

Is that the RIVERMARK unit? If so give them a call. They are hard to get on the phone, but once you got them, they will take care of it.

What they will do is take your credit card for IIRC $100.00 for the upgrade. They will refund your credit card once you send them the old SD drive.

Rand has apparently put out updates that were larger than the supplied card. Rand charges rivermark $100 so it's a deposit.

If you erased your card and don't have a backup, you are probably out $99.00 since the license for the software appears to be coupled to the card.

I think my 2015 has the same unit. The SD card is in the slot below the DVD slot. It does not stick out so you can't really see it. I use the ignition keys flat end to press the card in to release it. Then you can just pull it out. You will need to download RM's docking software to a computer to update the card. If that has never been done you will also be getting a map update. The Riverpark support people are great.
