42' TOUR Dash Air inconsistent

Just finished a 3-month Summer tour, thus I had the time to tinker with the R-134 charge-level (undercharge, correct charge, slight overcharge) ... to see what it took to get maximum cooling from the dash air. What worked the least was the overcharge.

My complaint is that when driving in 98-degree weather with Dash AC set to "recirc", the air is not really cold when holding my hand up to the vents. Sometimes there would be a slug of nicely cool air, then a condition of less cooling would seem to dominate.

So yes: I run the generator so that the roof-air units add additional cooling.

Just wondering if other TOUR owners are "feeling" the same WRT the dash air.

I would suspect that the heater control valve , isn't shutting off the coolant flow into the heater core , and you're still getting blended air on Recirc.
Many owners have installed a manual shut off in the heater hoses to improve dash A/C operation, in both regular and recirc.

Great recommendation. I've had "blend vane" trouble on my 2002 Jeep Cherokee and I know that just a small bit of heater-core heat can offset the AC ... big time.

Mine seems to do well, you have to remember it is 40' from the compressor. If it don't feel cold you may want to look at the heater valve, blender door, out side damper things like that.

42' TOUR Dash Air inconsistent

I would check to see if your condenser is full of mud. If so I would rinse it and then use coil cleaner to finish well. Good place to start.

Readers:
this rig is not one to take lightly getting under without adequate Suport. If the airbags dump it can crush you.
