Yesterday, I had my entry door awning repaired at a Winnebago dealer. The technician found the motor was full of water. He replaced the motor and added weep holes to allow the water to drain. I think I read of others who have had this problem.

Interesting ... I had the same problem with a Carefree Colorado entry door awning under the 12 month warranty. Dealer "dried out the motor" and added weep holes to allow the water to drain. The awning is still working...

Mine was done after warranty and after much discussion and hair pulling mine was fixed also.
On the 03 the motor assembly included gears etal. When the told me the price, about $750.00, I thought they were talking just about the motor. WOW. Thank goodness they took care of it..
By the way about 18 months ago(may have changed by now) I was told the door awning on Winnies had a 2 year Warranty as Winnie paid more for the door awning. This came from a supervisor at A&E and it was confirmed at Winnie Customer Service. Good Miles

Does anyone have pictures of these added holes? It sounds like something those of us with these awnings need to consider drilling out.

Ah, it's the outer case that fills. Is there a reason it's not at the low point on the bottom, or is this just a camera trick?
Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

The location of the weep hole is related to my Cummins 400 hp ISL engine. The acceleration is so great that water accumulates towards the rear of the awning.

I've had the door awning changed twice, the controller changed twice, the main awning fabric changed along with the motor. The remotes still do not work at all. Let me tell you the reprograming of these is difficult to say the least.

I have the latest motor, it was left in the rig on the carpet , it is Full of rust. Completely jammed up.

It might be harsh but I think Dometic and their product line is weak. Poor quality parts and design. I hope there is better out there.
