After a recent rain, I took the left end cap off my A&E door awning and found a muddy sludge. I drilled a 1/4" drain hole in the bottom of the cap so the water can flush out the collected dirt. Remove the cap and look. You'll be suprised how close the motor sits to the sludge in the cap.

Had the same problem with my 04 meridian except I found it when the motor failed to work. Motor had been submerged about 1" up from the bottom which has ruined the lower motor bushing.Few days out of warranty but A&E is going to cover the repair 100%.. I think they have now modified the cover for a drain hole.

Had the same problem. Water made the motor fail. Repaired in warranty. Drilled holes also. New 05 models still have no drain holes. Guess we are smarter then the people that make it.
