A/C Vents stink!

We have an 06 Adventurer with the heat pump. We have experianced an odor resembling urine smell!! The smell is noticed when black tank is showing half full or more. On two occasions the smell went away after draining the black tank. I am hoping someone can help me find the problem.

First off ..... Does the toilet maintain a small amount of water in the bottom? If not, it's leaking and can pull up aromas from the black tank when the A/C runs.

Do you have a washer/dryer? If it is not used regularly the P-trap water needs to be replenished by putting 2 cups of water in the drum and running it on RINSE for a couple minutes.

Make sure water is in both sink drains and the shower drain.

Toliet holds water, washer used atleast twice a week . Shower and sinks used daily. We are still south heading home in couple weeks. I have been trying to find the problem the last couple months. Didn't need the A/C as much in Dec and Jan. Thanks for your help!

Hi Stearn

I have an '05 Suncruiser-everything should be about the same as your coach. I've noticed an occaisional smell after running the bathroom vent without windows opened. I found there is a vent cover just below the front of the shower that is actually open to the sewage/water compartment in the basement. Not sure why it is there but I think my problem is air being pulled up from the valve/drain hose area. You might want to check for that same set-up. Just a thought...Good luck!

Stearn,

I have an '05 Bounder and experience the exact same odor. When I flush the toilet with the A/C running, I immediately get that odor directly from the A/C vent. I haven't figured out my problem yet, if you get a fix, please post it.

Thanks,
