Are you sure that what you're seeing isn't just a decoupling groove? If so, it would be on both sides of the tires.

My thoughts are more along the lines of the new tires do not have the same weight capacity causing more side wall bulge

The are smaller than the previous width and height so one would think they would clear fine with the exception of sidewall flex because they are closer to max carry capacity.

I would look at your air pressure and look more to match the weight likely need increased in mine I am running 110 front and 100 rear 110 is max

Thanks... I will need to consider these ideas when I am able to re-inspect my tires. Unfortunately, I will not be able to do that until I pickup my RV in April/May 2020. So I'm sorry if I'm pointing out something that maybe normal.

...But I think the groove in my tires is only on the inside edge. If so, then I would guess the "decoupling groove" idea is out?

* I don't suppose: Is there any chance the tire shop added a groove to my new Steer Tires when they mounted them?

* Why do they call them "Steer Tires" anyway?

As for air pressure, I watch it pretty close, but I always ride at 115PSI (cold). The axel is almost 12,000 and I have "G" rated Michelin Steer Tires up front.

According to Michelin, inflating the front tires to 110PSI is what they call for at this load range. So I add 5PSI more, and I don't find the ride to be too firm. The tire is rated for 120PSI (Max).

I also found information on the decoupling groove you might find interesting:
