Batteries not charging while coach running

Recently purchased a '93 Winnebago Brave. The house batteries charge from shore power but do not appear to be charging from the engine while it is running. Don't know how old the batteries are & yes they have been completely drained at least 2 times I am aware of. I don't know if this would be an alternator problem (although engine battery does fine), an old battery issue, or is it most likely something else? By the way, this is our first & we really know nothing about rvs. Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you checked in your owner's manual to see if it's supposed to charge house batteries on alternator? According to the '93 Brave manual, on pg. 2-11, the dashboard switch marked "Dual Batt" should be switched to "Dual" side to charge house batteries on alternator. If it's not working, check all fuses and connections, including battery and ground connections and the battery isolator relay.
