Cat 3126 air filter change schedule

Just turned 61000 miles on my 02 journey...In 5/06 at 30,000 miles I changed air filter even though filter minder never moved off initial setting. After 4 years it seemed hardly dirty and looked good..Now at 61000 and 4 years later I am wondering if I need to change it again at this point (31000 miles and 4 years)..Filter minder hasn't moved off original setting like last time....Runs great...lots of power....Read on this and other forums that you need to be carefill paper element doesn't desintragrate and get sucked into turbo....What are you guys doing for replacement intervals.....thanks RKL

Got the same question. Changed mine on the 2004 Cat C-7 when it was 4 years old, about 32,000 miles, and filter minder still setting on 15 both before and after replacement. Inside of old filter still looked decently clean but have heard the same thing about the filter paper coming apart and getting sucked into the engine, but it was a Cat dealer who was telling this. Couldn't tell if it was true or just propaganda for more profits.

That info comes from Gafney and Camp Freightliner..True or False? or is it one of those things that could happen after being in a flood 3 ft deep happening on 10/31/13at 12:01 AM? Had mine changed when I bought it a year ago with 19,000 miles and it was filthy...Good Luck
