Coming Unglued

There has been much discussion over the years about parts falling off of our Winnebago's. If you own yours long enough, something will fall off your front or rear cap, like doors, panels, hinge mount plates, etc. I have just had a fog light and mount fall off the lower front cap of my 2005 Adventurer. Winnebago seemed to think that gluing brightly painted objects with no bonding prep work would stand the test of time. I guess 10 years of hanging on by the skin of your adhesive is a long time, but it is rather disconcerting when this glued on part falls off while cruising down the interstate. Luckily, the various parts that have come unattached, has happened in and on my driveway. I have bought some commercial strength two part epoxy to reattached my fog light panel after I have properly prepped the surface for proper adhesion. My suggestion to all Winnebago owners of units older than 5 years to include eye-balling everything attached by glue to the front and rear caps in your annual inspection.

I've used JB Weld to glue items back onto my Winnebago. Seems to work OK.

I used stainless steel screws on both my front side panels (just in front of the wheels). Two screws on each side, hardly noticeable and look as though they belong. Who knows where the next fail will be.
