Cracks in front cap around maker lights.

In my losing battle against the clear coat failure of my front cap I regularly, every three months or so, wax the cap.

This time I decided to pull the marker lights to inspect the seals around the lights.

After cleaning up I discovered cracks in the cap in two light recesses. I have attached pictures.

Since I have never seen a crack so fine that water couldn't get through I assume I have found two leaks.

For now I put a bead of Proflex over both cracks. It doesn't look to bad especially from the ground.

Just a heads up for other owners out there who haven't inspected this area closely.

The lights come off easy with a simple counter clock wise 1/8 turn. They unplug very easily too. Note that the lights are marked with an "up" side when reinstalling them.

Not sure what other fix I will attempt.

Next time I have a windshield install I'm going to look at glassing all of them with woven roving and epoxy on the inside to prevent water intrusion.

As an aside until late last year I had very little clear coat failure, now it is spreading very fast popping up in new areas and getting worse in existing areas.

The Pictures:
The light patch at the end of the crack is just a reflection. There is no paint problem either of these pictures.
