Cruise Control/Wiper Control/Bright Light Control

Hello All,
I have a 2006 Winnebago Adventurer 38J. My cruise control switch has failed. I have purchased a new one but am trying to decide wetyher or not to attempt self installation or take it to a dealer. I am fairly handy at thins and want to know if anyone has done this? On some you have to pull the steering wheel and some not. can any tell me how it's done or where I can get installation instructions. Thanks..charlie

I know from working on cars that in most applications you need to pull the steering wheel. You could investigate this more online or take it to a repair facility although some garages might not installed costumer supplied parts.

If it is on a workhorse chassis it might not be much different then a GM light truck, same goes for a Ford.

You said you ordered a new part. If the new part is only the "multifunction stick" as opposed to the entire turn signal switch it should be fairly simple to replace. The stick has a rod that actuates the dimmer switch located lower on the steering column, and a set of wires that run through the column to the cruise control module. It's held into the directional switch with a detent.

First find the wires that run to the cruise control module. Compare the wire set and plug to the ones on the new part. Once you've found the plug under the dash unplug it and hook a strong string or wire to it. Then pull the stick out of the directional switch. Slowly pull the wires through the column until the wire/string is easily accessable. Remove the wire/string from the old plug and attach it to the new one. Carefully pull the new wire assembly back through the column. Once it's through put the end of the new lever in the directional switch socket and snap it into place. Then re attach the plug to the module under the dash.
