I mounted a metal box under the baggage compartm'ts to carry my PortaBote. Works great. However the box blocked the bottom cable hatch. Can I cut a 3" hole in the side wall of the compartment & install a new cable hatch? Doesn't appear to be any wiring or interference. Would bring out thru side and down thru propane compartment. Would cut tru 1.5" insulation and thin metal. Problems? Thnx.

Bill, I can't answer you question, but am interested in your boat mount. I also have a PortaBoat and haven't yet decided how to take it along. My initial thoughts were to put it on the Tahoe luggage rack. Could you describe and/or show a picture of your mount?

Bill,

You generally don't run electric through a propane compartment and it may not be a good idea to cut a hole that could vent propane into the compartment with your electrical gear. Call Winnebago and get input from their engineering folks before you go any further.

CalTex - Be glad to help you with my PortaBote box. I'm very proud of it. I designed it and had it built in a sheet metal shop in Dallas. I see you are in Dallas. I've moved my RV and attached box to west side of FortWorth. Call me at 972-489-6182 and we can discuss and/or arrange for a showing.
