This is a moot question for me due to the fact that I have replaced my Dimensions unit with a Xantrex RS2000 unit.

I notice that in the operational information for the Xantrex that the unit goes to inverter mode under at least one of the two conditions:
1. No AC on the AC input.
2. "Bad" AC on the AC input.

Now my question is: does the Dimension unit have a similar test for AC conditions (such as under/over voltage, poor wave form, frequency too low/too high) for going to invert mode as does the Xantrex unit?

I notice that the Xantrex has a lot of parameter tweakers; I have not noticed any such documented parameter settings for Dimension.

Any ideas here?

I would becareful when installing a xantrex. I have a 03 39wd that came with a xantrex. I could not plug into a gfi controled service without tripping same. If the refrigerator is wired to the inverter it will back feed out the shorepower cord due to a normally closed relay in the inverter. Winnebago new about this and put a large capacity resistor in line to reduce the amperage. I would suspect that is the reason winnebago switched to the dimension inverter in 04. The dealer corrected the problem by running a new outlet to the refridgerator by passing the inverter. The downside is it does not make ice when you are not plugged in or have the gen set running.

According to the product brochure for the Dimension there is:
Available automatic AC line input sensing, allows connection only in range of power
Automatic electronic short circuit/overload protection and high temperature shutdown
Automatic low battery shutdown at 10.5 VDC

I took that from the product brochure the Dimension rep gave out at their seminar at GNR. My last coach, an Adventurer, came only with the little inverter for the tv. I added a Xantrex Prosine to it and never had a problem and I was plugged into a gfci whenever I visited my mother. Maybe because it was aftermarket? The main thing I came away with at the Dimension seminar at GNR is that I'm going to replace the Dimension one with a Xantrex like I had. I'm wondering if Winnebago didn't switch because of price.

I had the same problem with my Xantrex. The problem was not with the Xantrex but how it is wired. The refrigerator, central vac, & dishwasher have to have their neutrals and grounds connected to which ever panel that supplies their power. I did not have a dishwasher. The hot lead was caped off in both panels but the unused neutral was attached to the neutral bar in both boxes which tripped the GFCI. After disconnecting one end of the unused neutral wire no more tripping the GFCI. Xantrex told me they connect the neutral and ground for safety reasons when the inverter powers down. For that reason the 2 panels have to be completely isolated from each other. I am a happy camper with mine.

I wish that Winnebago had asked Xantrex how to wire the unit when it was built. This would have saved me a 1800 mile round trip to the factory. Thanks for the info I may try to rewire mine accordingly.
