Do I need roof sealer -Solar Removal

Hi all - I’m the new owner of a 2019 Navion 24D and I’m slowly working through various upgrades.

One of them is to remove the 2 Sun Power solar panels that lay on the roof and replace them with some elevated Renogy panels.

I took the old ones off today and as expected, I’ve got some heat marks and gel crazing under them. Before I move along, should I seal this area to prevent further damage? I’ve seen different opinions on this and just looking for some clarity.

Thanks in advance!

First, I would do a good cleaning of the areas. Then take a good look and probably give it a sealer of your preference. What type of roof material is it?

Thanks - I just finished up and I’m ready to mount the new panels. I decided to use Henry’s Tropicool 887 and I’m very happy with the results.

Yep - that stuff is awesome - I covered everything, including all of the original caulk from Winnebago and it just feels like the roof is nice and tight now - expensive, but well worth it.

I also noticed an immediate change in the inside temperature - definitely cooler in there!
