Fresh water inlet

The fresh water inlet check valve will not seal when using the pump. I have bumped the check vavle without pressure off and it seals sometimes. Not now. The cap keeps it from leaking. A new fresh water inlet is $60. Can the check valve itself be replaced or a generic part be used? The new fresh water inlet (010230-06-000) isn't the same demensions as the current one and Lichtsinn said I might have to modify the plumbing where it attaches.

If your cap properly seals the inlet, I'm not sure of the problem. The check valve is supposed to stop water from being forced back out the inlet, but so does the cap. With a hose attached, the check valve prevents siphoning water back out of the tank, contaminating water source, but not sure this would be a common problem. An additional check valve to prevent back flow either in line between inlet and tank/pump or one in hose attached to inlet would also prevent backflow.

Had this problem with my 5th water system , removed the water connection , gutted the existing check valve; part of the hook up;and stacked a check valve on the back of the hook up. An option if you have room and the plumbing will allow.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have to look behind panel for room to add a check vavle. The cap seems to seal it pretty good.

I have noticed this year with the pump on. About every 15-20 minutes the pump runs for about 3-5 seconds. I have not found any leaks anywhere. I thought the check vavle might be the issue. I had some water getting past the fresh water cap. Tighened it a bit and no more water there but pump still cycles.

On the pump "burp" traced mine down to the pre-plumbed for washer tap lines. I hadn't got all the air out of the lines. Also possible internal valve leakage in the pump. Kits are available.
