Question Front Cap Light covers

My chrome (plastic) light covers have tarnished and need repainting. Anyone know how to remove these There doesn't seem to be any screw or bolt connections on the inside....

i there is very strong mastic holding those on. Get behind a corner with a scraper and apply pressure to move cover away from the mastic. This will take some time but is doable. I lightly sanded the surface, tried chrome spray paint and should of followed up with a automotive clear coat. Purchased a grey automotive bumper paint and followed up with clear coat. Looks very nice, I was not able to find mastic that would work, ended up drilling small holes and screws to re attach.

Thanks for the info... I would have never figured this out. I'll give it a try and report back. It's second in line at the moment, busy resealing and painting the top side rails and front cap that has oxidized like crazy.

You have to heat them up to soften the adhesive around the perimeter.

For C6 Corvettes they say to put them in a 200 degree oven for 15 minutes and start prying around the edge.

Could also try a heat gun but keep it moving so you don't warp the plastic.

The Corvette guys say use this stuff or similar:

Good luck. There are some youtube videos on folks that have done this type of replacement.

This video might help:
