Full wall slide out

Hello, I haven't posted her in a long time. I'm pretty frustrated so I thought I would see if anyone can help. I have a winnebago with a full wall slide. The slide out has 3 rails that extend when I out wall out. The middle rail has 2 bolts holding the railing and they keep breaking. I even had winnebago re- weld them 2 years ago. They are again broken. Any similar situations? Suggestions? Thanks!

What did the head of the original bolts look like? Never use replacement with more markings on the head, they will be harder and break quicker. The softer bolt will bend/deform/flex before breaking. The chart shows softer bolts on the top, hardest on the bottom.

I had the same problem

The 'cure' for me was to drill out the 2 old bolts and replace with slightly longer Grade 8 bolts as identified above.

The drilling through the steel bolts is absolutely the worst and hardest part. I took 2 days to do it with cobalt bits, WD-40 for cooling lube, very slow speeds, and lots and lots of patience. It is a sloooooow process but eventually we drilled all the way through both bolts and then dropped in new ones with appropriate nuts and washers.

2 years later still holding, but boy was that drilling a chore!!!

Hope this helps...there are several threads here on iRV2 about different cures, but this is what I did and I am still satisfied.

I believe that the reason your bolts are breaking is that your three rail hight adjustments need to be adjusted so that at retract and extend position one of them are not in a bind. Then the bolts wonít break.
