Getting Service at the Winnebago Factory?

We will be going full-time next spring and travel the US. We hope to visit the Winnebago factory in Iowa during our travels.

We have a 2016 Vista 31BE which we bought used a few months ago. We're interested in having a few items upgraded which are standard on new models but were not when our Vista was built (e.g., side cameras, audio system with bluetooth).

We were wondering about the merits of getting this work done at the factory vs. having it done by a private RV service center. Would appreciate any shared experiences or advice.

Thanks.

I had some work done at the Winnebago factory during the winter. Work included warranty, repairs and upgrades. I was very happy with the service and work. We left our motorhome there for two weeks. On drop off and pickup, we stayed in their campground at the service entrance. Happy to answer any questions.

I’ve had work done at the factory twice. They do excellent work, no complaints at all. It is well worth the effort to schedule and have work done there.

If possible Winnebago will give your RV back each night so you have a place to stay. You will need an appointment unless you are going during the July GNR. During the GNR there is a first come number system with a limited number of repair items.

You can drop in anytime, but they fit you in as they can (not just during GNR). It may take two or three days before they get you in. As noted, they try to get your RV back to you each night. You can stay there free (electric only) if there is a site. Best is to schedule your repairs and enhancements. Just call them and set up an appointment. Figure it will be two to three months in the future.

Good luck!

Or you can call customer service and make an appointment. With the appointment you are assured they will be ready for you and will start working on your motorhome the day of the appointment.

Without an appointment there is no assurance you will get in at any particular time. If it just so happens there are 10 people in front of you with problems that could take a long time to resolve it could be an extended before you get taken care of. Those without an appointment are taken on a first come first served basis as time between scheduled appointments allows.

I have been back to the factory several times for service. I highly recommend getting an appointment. We have always been very satisfied with our service at the factory.

If you are having the coach serviced, they are excellent and will do it properly. If you are interested in having things upgraded, my suggestion is that you call them now and get an idea of what the cost will be for the cameras and the audio system upgrade. It will greatly help you to decide whether you have the work done at the factory or privately elsewhere. If you do decide to go to the factory, make an appointment as soon as possible as the spots fill up very quickly.

We had our shower door replaced with the one they upgraded on 2013 model. No issues except $$$. Our friend did the same upgrade later thru reputable RV shop. Several issues requiring repeat trips to shop.

I vote for having it done at the factory.

Definitely make an appointment if you need a slide repair. We were there October3rd to the 12th and could not get in. Many RV’s there taking three days for repairs. Could not make an appointment due to not knowing how long our roof repair would take down the street. Had to leave on the 12th and head to Carrabelle, Florida to repair damage Hurricane Michael did to our house.
