Heat pumps and genset

Can anyone tell me if the heatpumps should work when you are just running the generator?

I have a 2000 Adventurer 35U with trueair and when we run the genset and turn on the heatpumps it never gets hotair it feels like it is just blowing in the outside air.

When we plugin this weekend 4/10-4/12 the heat pumps blew in warm air not the hotest mind you but it was warm air do I have a problem that I need to get look at the unit will be going in over april school vaction week for some minor work leak on hydrocks under living room slide for the 4 time what should I do about the heat pumps have them look at it or is this somthing I can do myself?

breakers are all good and red reset button on the trueair unit is also good

If the outdoor temps are below about 40F, the heat pump will not be very efficient - but it should work on the generator. It almost sounds like your 2nd compressor is not coming on.

FWIW . . . we only use the heat pump when plugged in to shore power, otherwise we use the furnace. It seems to me that using diesel / gasoline to generate electricity, then using that electricity to generate heat, is less efficient than using propane for direct heat.

Heatpumps never blow hot air. They only blow warm. It should work with the generator and as above, it is cooler if below 40 degrees and would feel cooler air blowing below that temp.

As noted, a heat pump is only going to blow warm air when compared to a gas or electric furnace.

Once you get down to 40 dF outside, a heat pump will not work nearly as well.
