I have a question about the type of oil and how often do you change it.
I run Full Synthetic SAE 5W-30 in the 5.5 Onan Genset, HGJAB-A. They say to change every 100 hours, and I change the filter.
Was wanting to hear from you’ll on what you’re doing?

This might not help you as I think you have a gasoline generator but I use Rotella T6 mainly because I can use it in my home generator, my motorhome and truck. Makes it easy for me.

I also use Rotella since mine is a diesel powered generator. I change the oil at the 100 hr interval regardless if that is after 1 year or 5 years. Still running perfectly in my Class A that I purchased new in 2002, 20 years ago this coming November.

I also run the Rotella T6.
I typically change the oil/filter and air filter each spring at the beginning of the season. The manual calls for a change at 150 hours. I may change the oil/filter again if I go much over 150 hours. Since we mainly run off solar it is not common for me to go over 150 hours/year.

We have an Onan 5500 and the manual says change oil and filter at 100 hours, or one year. We only run our generator about 50-60 hours per year so I change oil and filter yearly.

Do NOT use rotella in a gas generator - use normal gas motor oil - synthetic or dino - if you do not use gen much, maybe save some $ and use dino - i personally use walmart sythetic in everything, fairly cheap - test have shown it to be good oil (even better than some or equal to most 'name' brands!) and seems the same as costco and amazon syn oils - all from a reputable maker (warner?).
Rotella is for diesel engines - additives of gas and diesel oil are diff due to lots of blowby by high compression/turbo diesel engines, not so by gas engines.
