Tev,
That shouldn't be too big a deal. If you open your genset all the way out you can get to the bulb assembly. It's not too unlike an automobile assembly. Perhaps WBGO can ship the new bulb to you where you are?

WGO chairs

I've decided I don't want the folding chairs that came with my Ellipse. I took out the straight back chairs that came with the unit and began using the folding chairs. They are nice and attractive. They are good for occasional use but I want something more comfortable and made for rugged use. Anyone interested in these?

Hey Bill,
I would be interested in them but don't know how we'd get them. I agree they aren't the most comfortable but they are so much easier than the big, heavy straight back ones. I'm thinking of putting more padding on the seat part. How much do you want for them and are you coming through Dallas anytime?

We've really enjoyed our SmartCar. Easy to get around, easy to park. Towing is no big deal once you put in the battery disable switch. It has occasionally been a problem not having a second set of seats but not often. We hardly ever need the storage space either since it's usually groceries or clothes from shopping that we haul. We did however a week or two ago actually haul a full pivoting office chair in it...that was amazing! LOL

We've considered getting a new one, maybe a convertible, but go back and forth on switching to a jeep. As it stands now, our 2008 SmartCar is so cheap and is already set up to tow that it's hard to justify going to anything else.

You mentioned Aquahot issues to me. We have had some issues with that too. We found a bad pump that made the bedroom cold and warranty is covering that. We also discovered that "endless hot water" is not the case if you are running the dishwasher....at least in electric heat mode. Don't know about in diesel fired mode.

What have been your issues maybe sharing would help others?

Bill, The "continuous hot water" has never been continuous when the weather is cold and the water is also. It will work for about 15 seconds and go. So it's an on/off type of "continuous". This is in electric mode. Also, as you know, electric mode won't heat the coach when the temps get below a certain level. It will then switch to gas. That is if you have the burner turned on. Our problem came up when we turned on the burner and the coach smelled like diesel fumes. Not good. So we took it in for service since we discovered that needed to be done as part of a regular service. Maybe yearly? Got that done along with some other items and discovered it still wasn't heating the coach properly. No more diesel fumes, thank goodness, but not much heat either. And the temps were in the teens! We have been told that the burner is the best way to heat the water and the coach and that's fine but it needs to do that. It is currently in the shop to find out why that isn't happening. The heat would run for about 4 minutes and then go off for 20 or more. It didn't seem like it was getting the fuel needed to do the job. Pump maybe? We'll see. How do you heat your coach when the temps are frigid and you are traveling? The front heater barely warms the driver and passenger so what do you do for the middle area? In the summer, I run the gennie while on the road but don't know what to do with the heater situation. Maybe it doesn't matter until the Aqua Hot gets fixed. At this point we are not very impressed with the hot water/heating situation in the coach and for the price and technology I don't feel like we should have to lug around space heaters. But that's what we'll do when we go out in colder temps. until we feel we can rely on the system to do its job. This time the weather caught us off guard.

We don't tow a car and just rent when we are someplace for any length of time. A Smart car seems like a good choice. We see a lot of Jeeps too. It just seems so difficult to deal with hooking and un hooking when you get somewhere and these coaches are soooo long. Makes me nervous but it would be nice to have that car when you need to run to the store for something. Like a space heater. :-)

Finally ripped out the factory installed cheap carpet throughout the Tour as well as the ugly black carpet on the stairway and step cover and replaced with a nice quality carpet. A nice improvement.

Sounds interesting, could you provide a photo or two sometime?

Myself, regarding the steps carpet....I have a mod in mind too. I plan to install wood there from a walnut tree on my property cut years back.

Love to see what you've done.

I thought about putting wood steps in, but it caused a problem with the door closing completely due to the difference in thickness of the rubber step and wood.

Man that looks great, super job!

Yes, I noticed that in my rig about the door clearance. It will be a challenge, we'll see what happens and let you know.

How did you get the carpet to go under the cabinets, like in the bedroom? Was it a difficult demo/install?
