Itasca Sunova Power Cord Receptacle Box miswired

So this is my second season with this coach. 2007 Itasca Sunova 34ft with 3 slides. Driving to a campground last weekend the 20 amp breaker on the generator tripped while running both AC's and the refrigerator. I have the 30 amp cable with the Generator/Shore Power switch for running the rear AC and I had this switch in Generator. When the 20 amp breaker tripped, I lost the display on the microwave, I lost the frig and I lost the front AC. The rear AC was still operating. I turned the front AC off turned the breaker on, lowered the fan speed on the front AC to low fired the AC back up and finished my trip without further incident. I thought about replacing the 20 amp breaker and when I did some research, I found out about people replacing the 20 amp with a 30 amp breaker and also found out about people having the generator miswired at the power cord receptacle box. Per my wiring diagram, the 20 amp breaker on the generator should go to the rear AC and the 30 amp breaker should go to the front AC and everything else. I just doublechecked everything by running the generator and purposely tripping the breakers and found that my rear AC is wired to the 30 amp breaker and the 20 amp breaker powers everything else (front AC, water heater, AC, outlets, microwave). I know what I have to do now but here is my question? Is this miswiring a common occurence on these coaches?

I would say over all the years I've been reading posts on this board I've not run across many Winnebago coaches with the same or similar problems. I'm sure it has happened, that being said you are at least the second owner of a 13 year old coach. It's more likely a previous owner or service facility had removed some breakers and inadvertently rewired them incorrectly.

I'm not sure exactly where your breaker box is located, but on ours it has to be removed to access the 12 volt converter/charger. Our charger failed last year and had to be replaced. The breaker box had to be removed and several breakers had to be disconnected to allow enough room to remove and install a new charger.

For our particular model there is no breaker box wiring diagram available on the Winnebago website. I had to take pictures to insure everything got rewired and installed properly. If your coach had a similar problem it's possible a previous owner or service center got some breakers miswired.

On ours it's easy to do. The top 2 breakers are doubles. One half of each is labeled 50 amp Main, and the other half is AC. It wouldn't take much to wire them incorrectly without a diagram or pictures.

Hikerdogs, thank you for weighing in. I had a chance to go out and open up the power cord receptacle box and found that it was miswired right there. The CB2 (black) wire was connected the the 30 amp receptacle and the CB1 (black) was connected to the rear AC wiring. I flipped those along with their associated neutral (white ) wires and now the 30 amp breaker carries everything except the rear AC. I fired everything up after rewiring, and got the amperage up to 23 on the main circuit and the breaker held just fine.
