Laminate Install 2007 35j

I've been working on replacing the carpet on Our New to US 2007 Sightseer 35j. Just wanted to post an observation and possible solution to to serious floor damaging situation.

Winnebago mounts a hold down loop to the bottom of the slide behind the rearward dinette. The loop is nothing more than a steel plate with a loop welded to it. Mine was bolted in from the bottom with 2 hex head bolt going up thru the slide floor with nuts on the top of the floor. When I pulled my carpet and installed Allure laminate. The first time I brought the slide in to test, the Hold Down Loop, gouged the flooring and destroyed the the floor vent.

I backed the slide out, put together a ramp for the slide to rise up on when it was brought in and reviewed the the cause. That was when I found the hex head bolts holding the loop down and the rough welding that was done mounting the loop to the plate.

Resolution;
I went to Woodcraft and bought a piece of 1/4 thick UHMW plastic, cut 2 pieces 1 1/2" x 4" rounded over the edges on one side, drilled for countersunk holes and mounted them to the bottom of the slide at the front edge and back where the junk was cut out of the original "glide" To mount the blocks I had to use a Right Angle Driver adapter on my driver with Square Drive self drilling screws. Tight but with the rise I got with the ramp under the slide it's doable.

Relocated the loop to the top of the slide with carriage bolts coming up from the bottom.

Sorry this post is so long.
