Latest Winnebago News

FOREST CITY, Iowa (AP) — Winnebago Industries says it's shifting to its Forest City campus the production of Class A diesel motorhomes from the company plant in Junction City, Oregon.

Winnebago announced Monday that the change will consolidate product development, supply chain and assembly for the company's diesel motorhome business.

Winnebago Vice President Brian Hazelton says the strategic decision to move diesel product manufacturing to the former Country Coach facilities in Junction City years ago did not achieve "our targeted operating efficiency and profitability goals."

The company expects to begin the transition immediately. Winnebago says the 250 positions in Junction City will be reduced to about 30 and that there will be an increase of about 175 positions at the Forest City campus by the end of fiscal year 2020.

It was a really dumb move in the first place. Winn have a massive warehouse in FC, full staff experise in virtually all aspects of the industry and an outstanding service capability. I suspect the previous President - whose background was manufacturing and was on a mission of product and quality improvement - voiced his concerns about such a dumb move and was subsequently replaced. He was obviously bang on! Winn did have a labor supply issue in FC but looks that will be easier to solve than the logistics of a remote plant for their highest value products. A good news story for Winnebago.

A google satellite view does indeed show that the Forrest City facility is huge. Does Winnebago offer tours there?

Yes, and they're going to build another building, that is perhaps larger.
