I am considering mounting a 37" Sony LCD tv in a Lift Cabinet across from couch in 36 ft, 05 Meridian. Cabinet would need to be about 12" deep. The lift I am considering is the "NEXUS 21, mod L-27" that is made for boats and motor homes. Their web site is http://www.tvlift.com/tv-lifts-for-rv-builders.html. Possibly I could have a small wing off the front of wall cabinet (behind passenger front seat) for a laptop. We have a small swivel chair across from couch that may be able to stay even with the new cabinet along the wall. New cabinet would be about 56" to 58" long.
I want to eliminate the front overhead TV and remove the large compartment that it was mounted in. Future project would be full width day and night MCD shades in the future. Current TV box must GO.

We have a 52" Sony on their DL-39 lift. They make good stuff. Very smooth, very quiet.

Not to try and change your mind but we were going to go with the TV lift idea but realized the viewing angles were not acceptable from all areas of the coach. Plus it is another piece of furniture taking up space.

We ended up mounting a 37" on the wall behind the passenger seat (removed large entertainment center which is another story) and used a CLO motorized mount that allows you to "swing" the TV 90 degrees from the wall. With a push of a remote button, we can position the TV for any viewing angle in the RV. I also might add, we went as far as removing our dinette table and replaced it with a Euro-recliner.

Just a suggestion from someone that has been there.

Good luck, I'm sure it will be great any way you end up doing it. NOTE: I too hate that overhead TV idea.
