MH will not go into park (gear shift)

mh been sitting at home for a couple of months. Start and move it around once a month. The other day after moving it around the gear shift lever will not go completely in park, stops about halfway. It goes in all the other gears fine. Looked under the mh, there are two cables that go to transmission. One goes about halfway into the transmission, the other goes to I think the torque convertor. Which one goes to the indicator in the cab. My helper is out of town, so I have no one to move the gear shift lever while I crawl underneath to see which one is moving. 1999 Itasca 35, ford v10. thanks

On the end of the shift tube in the steering column there are two torx head screws that hold the lever that the cable end connects to. They can come loose or break. This condition is usually caused by the "range selector switch" on the transmission, the steel shaft rusts and swells binding the switch. Most common issue from the start of this condition is high shift effort in gear selection.

mrv8outboard, thanks for leading me into the vicinity of the problem. After dissembling the covers that hold the torx bolts that u told me about, I found the small cable that goes to the shift indicator. There is an adjustment for the indicator, the cheap plastic holder for the adjustment knob had broken and allowed enough slack in the cable to give a false reading on the shift indicator. Until I decide to fix it, I willl have to remember where the indicator is. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction.
