I am about to takr delivery of a 2001 Winnebago Adventurer 32V with 40K mikes. GVWR is 20K ... 6K front and 13K rear.

The Michelin 19.5" tires have probably been replaced because the spare is used. The tires look to be in good shape with lots of tread.

The numbers on the sidewall read 225/70R and there is a large "X" on the sidewall. That is all .. just the "X" It also reads 8 ply sidewall and gives the tire pressures for the weights.

I cannot find this tire on the Michelin website. Am I not reading something correctly?

Is this the correct tire for the vehicle? Where is the load rating on the Michelins? Goodyear uses "F" or "G".

The Winnebago sticker on the door reads 75psi front and 85psi rear.

Any help will be appreciated. FrankieJ

Your tires are about 5 years old. The rule of thumb is to replace RV tires every 6 years. Some folks will debate this and run tires for a longer time. Yet you need to be aware of cracking of the sidewalls and dry rot. Its not the mileage of a RV tire its the age that gets you.

As far as the size, contact a Michelin dealer and they maybe able to explain the X.
Weigh the coach to determine how much air should be in each tire and even then you will get many answers as to how much air you should use but you won't be wrong to use what the Michelin table tells you.

I found 225/70R/19.5 tires on their RV site. If all else fails use what Winne says altho that might not be the best ride. Good Miles

ichn2go...thanks for the reply. I'm sure the tires are only a few years old, but they may have been on the shelf for a longer period of time. I contacted via e-mail and they gave me
an 800 number to call. I'll contact them and see what they can offer. I do not think the dealer will change the tires for new. Their concern is a safety check when it leaves the dealership. If the tires are not dry rotted, then it is a "go" on their part. FrankieJ

Read the date code on the tire sidewall and you can easily know how old your tires are. Find the number that starts with DOT ...the last 4 digits are the date code (assuming the tires are not from the 1990's!). ie. if the last 4 digits are 0401, your tires were mfg in the 4th week of 2001. 5101 would be 51st week of 2001.

Paul,

Thanks for the reply. I called Michelin and they directed me to the DOT number also .. but could tell me nothing about the lone "X" designation.
