New owner 2005 Vectra 40KD

Hi all, looking for some advice re factory charging system wiring . 400HP Cummins ISL. Have installed a 300AH LifePo house bank battery. Do not want to damage it if the engine alternator is feeding it while motor running. Can anybody tell me if this is the case OR does the engine charging system only charge the chassis batteries? Hope so!
Have a large (700w) solar system along with upgraded 3000w GoPower inverter/charger dedicated to charging the house battery.

As manufactured your Battery Boost Solenoid should be activated whenever the engine is running (or when the Battery Boost switch on the dash is depressed) and will connect the coach and chassis battery banks together so that the alternator will charge both banks.

You'll find all of the wiring diagrams for your coach HERE. All of the 12V wiring on the coach should be labelled every few inches, and you can refer to the Wiring Identification Guide to see what the labels represent.

Page 8 of the Automotive Wiring Diagram shows the Battery Boost switch on the center left. The three wires connected to it are labelled LR, LS, and LLJ.
LR / 14 YEL BATTERY MODE SWITCH (AUX START SWITCH) BATTERY MODE SOLENOID (AUX START SOLENOID)

LS / 12 YEL OVERCURRENT PROTECTION 20A BREAKER TYPICAL,COACH FEED GENERAL PURPOSE(BATTERY MODE, RADIO POWER,BATTERY CONDITION

LLJ / 14 YEL AUX START RELAY (RUN ONLY POWER) AUX START SWITCH
When the switch is depressed it connects LS to LR, activating the solenoid and connecting the two battery banks together. When the switch is NOT being depressed it connects LLJ to LR, which activates the solenoid whenever the engine is running. If you were to disconnect LLJ from the switch in the dash that would mean that the solenoid would no longer be activated when the engine is running, but would still be activated if the Battery Boost switch is depressed.

Your other choice is to replace the stock battery isolator with a battery manager that is designed for lithium batteries. The stock isolator is rated at only 100 amp and not continuous duty. This Precision Circuits is designed to only connect the two battery banks together when the voltages indicate it is necessary and appropriate. I have had mine for 10 years now and never have to worry about a discharged chassis bat or an overcharged house battery.
