Nose job on an '01 Horizon?

Anybody ever look in to putting the '04-'05 nose on an '00-'03 Horizon? There's an '01 listed on RVT with the conversion right now, but I was wondering if any of you had ever investigated the cost?

Here's a link for that '01 on RVT: 2001 Itasca Horizon , Class A - Diesel RV For Sale in Cape coral, Florida | RVT.com - 112052

Needless to say, that particular coach has a lot more done to it as well! I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on an '01 myself, but figured I might freshen up the look with the newer nose and perhaps full body paint (I know it's expensive) at some point in the future

Your right, that is a great looking coach and lots of upgrades really stand out. I particularly like the paint scheme, not overdone like so many of todays paint swirls and swooshes. To answer your question, I have never heard of anyone changing the nose cap but I would think it would not be that difficult. Have you thought about finding a good glass guy and just re-doing the light treatments to give you that updated look? I have a friend who did just that on an old GMC (1977) coach. He used the front end of a new GMC Truck (headlights, grille, badges etc.) and it looks fantastic. People think it is a new coach when they see it. Just a thought and good luck.

I hadn't really considered modding the existing front cap because I like the idea of keeping the OEM appearance (even though it is newer), but it's an option. I'm also guessing the headlights do better with the '04-'05 nose since they're mounted higher.

For what it's worth, I called Winnebago and they figured around $7k to do it by the time you include parts, labor, paint, and graphics. Seems like a lot of money for a piece of fiberglass and new headlights. That being said, they stated they wouldn't do it (or at least not at their service center in IA)... They said they don't put newer model year parts on older coaches - even if they do fit. I'd guess my best bet would be trying to locate one at a RV salvage yard and then taking it to a trusted local shop to do the work.

There's a place in Nacogdoches TX that specializes in MH makeovers, especially front and rear lights and paint. I don't have the full name handy but it is Precision something. The guy's name is Stallings. They advertise in some RV mags.
