I finally got the English error codes...The previous forums must be incorrect. My install is on a onan gas not diesel which is different pin connectors at the generator harness.

Wire #5 must be a new wire to the generator and connect to the pin E at the generator. Previos posts for genset gas wiring read that wire #5 was to connect to the red wire on the generator hour meter. This wire (red wire pin F) is supposed to go to wire #6. Just to let you know that wire 5 and 6 can be wired backwards or together (connected to red wire at gen hour meter) and the generator will still work but no English codes. I finally traced the yellow wire back to the genset and learned it went to pin F not E. Anyone have a Gas generator/ec 30 and get the English Error codes.

Thanks

Also Harry you are correct wire #6 for "diesels only "is a new wire to pin B. this will get you the english codes....

So how hard is it to install this yourself? Are any special tools required?

I just received the unit from Onan, the instalation will happen when the temperature outside is closer to fifty degrees (March). Will revert with the instalation at that time.
Search ec30 and you will see other post on the complete instalation that is what promted me.

its not hard if you can talk with someone who can guide you through with what generator and therrrmostat you have......its just running the wires...my problem was i had a unit that needed new software and the instructions I was reading from someone on this site wer not exactly correct also i tried to cut corners and not go directly to the battery for the power to teh unit. Onan told me that the avg cost of install is well over $1000.00
