Hi all, I have a problem I couldnt find an answer to. I have a outdoor storage compartment door that wont open. The latch mechanism seems to function but one side wont unlatch the other side unlatches as designed. I searched the forums for an answer but I couldn't find one or Im not smart enough to enter the proper search phrase. I cant get the door open and hope someone can help.

Thanks and happy Memorial day to all.

Kent

You can unlatch the door by using a long screwdriver to push the tongue of the latch back. Look at the front or rear edge of the door and you will see the tongue and latch assembly.

After you get the door open, remove the cover at the inside center of the door to access the latch mechanism. After doing this, you will understand that the door locks are only there to keep an honest person honest!

I had the same problem. I put my knee against the side that wouldn't open and applied pressure. It clicked and then I was able to open the door. When you pull the inside cover of the lock plate, You'll have to bend the rod going to that latch to adjust it. No big deal, just a pain in the you know what.
