Over heat in service box

In April I opened my service box 30 amp 120 vac. My 15 View had melted wire screw black melted to white.
I hate wire nuts so I used WAGO connectors. I used the 30 amp 10 wire units.

Yesterday I had a melted WAGO.

My plan is to replace my 30 amp power cord. I replaced the plug two years ago, no issues at the plug but a new cord takes the plug out. The View does not have a transfer switch, you plug into the site or generator power.

Given the factory wire nuts melted, and the WAGO melted other than the Power cord, am at a loss for the why. Never have a circuit breaker snap. I use a Hughes Auto former. I check my AC voltage often. My park has good power.

Typically burnt wiring or connectors are caused by loose connections caused by arcing, that said usually getting back to clean wiring and replacing connectors making sure they are tight should solve the problem. Also incase your joining copper and aluminum wiring its important to use the proper compound during reconnecting process this prevents chemical interaction between the copper and aluminum. Tight connections are key.

You may want to install a inline Surge Protector while you are at it. Also any time you have to replace the plug end of the power cable, you need to OHM out the power cable also to verify that it too is not beginning to fault. Typically the resistance between the lines will get low thus indicating that the wires inside have gotten very hot and are melting the insulation. Basically replace it.

I have ordered a new power cable. I replace the plug a few years ago. It looked good in April . I will ohm the circuit.

It is almost certainly the connection.

Use #6 split bolts and wrap with good electrical tape
