Paint removal of pre-full-body-paint MH

The silver trim patterns on my 02 Horizon are completely flaking and delaminating after a mostly outdoor life for last 13 years. Pressure washer removal made sort of a mess - incomplete removal. How do I removed the factory silver trim patterns on sides of MH? The grey and maroon colors seem to be doing OK.

Probably the same as on a car: sanding it off.

Won't damage the fiberglass walls?

Hand sanding or an orbital, never a rotary sander. The paint is automotive paint over the gel coat. Chemicals might (might not) damage the gel coat, I don't know.
