Plastic surge tank radiator cap

Would appreciate it if someone had an 02 cat 330 3126e with plastic surge tank if you could tell me the pressure rating on the radiator cap. Can't read mine. Thks. Rkl

The higher the pressure, the higher the boiling point. engines with a steel expansion tank will run as high as 16 PSI but your plastic tank will likely spring a leak at that pressure. Stay under 10 PSI.

My plastic tank has a 16psi cap.

Well, you state what the year and engine is but, not the chassis. If, we assume it's a Freightliner, then the very first thing I might do is, call the Freightliner Customer assistance hot line and, have the last 6 of your VIN ready when they answer. They will tell you the EXACT MODEL number of the cap and, what its pressure rated at. Yours may or may not differ from other CATs for any particular reason(s). So, it just might be worth a call to them to make sure you're getting the right one for your application.
