I know I can adapt and run my grill off my Adventurer propane tank and I also know I can get bigger grill tanks. What I need to know is what folks do with the little 160z tanks when they are used up.

I believe you can refill them off a 20 lb cylinder. I believe it's legal to throw them in the garbage if they're empty.
