Recommended Mileage Between Oil Changes
I am getting the engine oil changed tomorrow.
I have only had my MH for 4 months.
What is the recommended amount of miles between oil changes?
We don't do a lot of driving, many sitting.

I think 5K or once a year would cover most motorhomes both gas or diesel.

I change all our low annual mileage vehicles once a tear in my birthday month. Makes it easy to remember when due.

Ford recommends oil and filter every 5K miles for the Ford F53 chassis.

Always at 5000?
Yes, the recommended is 5K. Question is, would you do it in the middle of a trip such as. Leave Florida across the southern states, up the west coast. Then back across to Glacier NP, to Rapid City then back to Florida. Do it mid trip or when you get home?

Recommended Mileage Between Oil Changes
I’m trying to keep to a 5000 mile change interval on my F53. It’s not a perfect art. I will carry the filter and pick up the oil when I need it and have done a change on the road. It’s not really ideal but necessary. I haven’t really looked hard but finding someone to change the oil isn’t something that I look forward to doing.
I installed a Fumoto valve and carry an empty gallon and quart container for the drained oil. The trick is to remove the oil filter without getting oil everywhere. For that I get a gallon baggie and put a used paper towel into the bottom. Wrap that around the filter after loosening it and try to keep the oil inside when getting the filter removed. The fumoto valve keeps the oil pan oil tidy and easy to deal with so that part is easy (they’re well worth the price.

I do it when convenient at home after I cross the 5,000 mile threshold. I use Mobil 1 synthetic and the Ford oil filter. Personally never gone more than 7,500. The oil only slowly deteriorates over time so there is nothing bad about going a ways above 5,000.

The GM 8.1 recommended is 3000 miles.

We have a gas powered coach and I use Mobil 1 full synthetic changing oil & filter between 5 & 7 thousand miles.
Best of luck and safe travels...

Looking at my 2003 8.1 Workhorse manual now. There is a 3000 mile/3 month recommendation for what it calls, "short trip/city " driving. There is a 7500 mile/annual recommendation for "long trip/highway" driving as well. To add to this, it also specifies to use the city schedule if pulling a trailer, going off pavement, or when used in dusty conditions.
The manual does not state anything in regards to the chassis being used to propel a heavy motorhome down the road. In my mind, I feel the city schedule is overkill but at the same time, that the highway schedule may be insufficient because of the extra load being placed on the engine in my MH chassis. For this reason, 5000 miles or annually, whichever occurs first, is what I feel comfortable going with.

Every engine mfgr I know of says to change oil annually or at mileage recommendation, whichever comes first.

I change at about 3,000 miles. I figure that engine is working pretty hard.
I do it myself so it is pretty cheap. Have put 90,000 on it so far with no oil related problems.
