The bed in our 06 Adventurer 35A uses two STABILUS LIFTOMAT gas cylinders to lift and hold the matress so that access can be had to the storage compartment underneath. When I took the bed apart to gain access to a 12 V cable, these cylinders extended quite a bit, and now I am unable to push them back to their original lenght. Therefore our bed is now permanetly inlined at 45 degrees.

Since my wife refuses to sleep at this angle (I even offered to park sideways on a steep hill), I need to find a way to recompress these cylinders. Any suggestions?

I'm having the same problem on my 05 Minnie 31C. Unfortunately, one of the springs froze in the fully extended position and when my wife tryed to close the bed it racked sideways and broke &/or dislodged several of the wooden supports. Were you able to figure out how to recompress the gas springs? Upon disassembley I extended the reminding spring and am unable to recompress either spring. Quite a mystery!

What a scary situation. I've never been unable to lower our bed after raising it to get to something we've stored under it. I alway figured if they went haywired it would be in the colasped position, not the extended. Guess all you could do is undo one end while someone supported the bed then let it down. Some of the screws holding the bed platform worked loose on my bed and I had to undo one end of both cylinders to reposition the platform then reattach the cylinders. Not too bad, the end of the bed isn't all that heavy. Hope this helps some.
