replace air filter of 36GD Journey/Cat 330

Has anyone replaced themselves the Farr-Eco air filter on a 2002 or newer 36'GD Journey? If so, can you replace it without removing other components? and from top or bottom?..Is it a complete unit or filter in a canister?....do you have the replacement number?...thanks RKL

RKL, I changed ours last year in our 02 Journey DL 36GD. I thought It might have gotten wet but that proved not to be a problem. I paid in the area of $65 at the local freightliner shop. I don't remember removeing any other components in the area. It is a one piece canister. It was not difficult, just the usual laying on the back to access it from the bottom with the related dirt in the eyes and the cut fingers etc. It is held into a saddle with two big clamps that go around the body and attached at each end to rubber tubes that are held by large hose clamps.

glad to get the info on the air filter. Mines a 2004 Meridian with 9,400 miles but I have been wondering what to expect when I get there. Your description sounds like what I've seen from underneith while changing the oil. I'm 110 miles from one FL dealer and 120 from another, but NAPA and Wix makes a lot of the other filters, maybe I can get one closer to home.

I don't know wwhich filter the Cat engines uses but here is a cross reference for all the FARR ECO filters. Hope it helps.

RKL, I got the number off the old one. I found a paper sticker on the side of the canister that I could read before I took it off. Freightliner had the new filter in stock.
