Rialta Generator remote switch

2000 Rialta generator will not start from the inside start switch. It starts normally from the generator switch. I took the inside switch off and found the middle wire (black) disconnected and the wire end was tapped. I connected the wire back to the middle stud, now the generator turns using the inside switch but it will not start. Also, now the engine will turn over but will not start from the outside switch. I disconnected the middle wire and again it will start and run from the outside switch but nothing from the inside switch. Any ideas please.

Think bad switch on the inside. The center is shorted to the STOP side. So pressing it to START causes it to turn over but it is also being told to quit. Try disconnecting the black wire again. Also try disconnecting all three wires and using your trust Volt/Ohm meter to check the switch.

bradford3454, I removed the switch, then shorted across the black and yellow wire and the generator started. I then checked the switch with a continuity gage and it check good. I reinstalled the switch and everything is working normal. Go figure? Thanks again
