I just purchased a 2005 Class C "Aspect" model (26') with 14,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, it sat in outside RV storage for the past year. Today, I went in for an oil change and the mechanic pointed out tiny hairline cracks in the sidewalls and recommended I replace the tires. They are Michelin 225/75/R16. The mechanic recommended I go with a Cooper tire since I reside in a hot dry climate (Southern Utah)and the Cooper tire has softer rubber than the Michelin and will hold up better. Any ideas or recommendations? Also, why would I neede new tires if the sidewall cracks are barely noticable (hairline)?

Does that shop by any means sell Cooper tires? I've never heard of a Cooper tire that is made for RVs with the UV protection they need. I've had 5 year old tires with tiny hairline cracks that the Michelin tire shop said was no problem. You might want to check the manufactures date on the sidewall just to make sure they aren't over 5-6 years old, which is what the recommended change time. And I'd get a second opinion from another reputable tire shop.

Thanks..I will indeed investigate a little more. Oh yah, the shop that recommended the Cooper tires doesn't sell tires.

Just my 2 cents--I would stay with RV tires from Michelin or Goodyear. I would also have a reputable tire dealer take a look at your tires. Good luck--
