Slide issues on the new coach...

Haven't even took it out yet on the maiden voyage yet either.... Was putting in the "super duper" slide this after noon and just as it was almost all the way in, I heard a pop. I went out to survey what could have gone wrong and noticed that the back end (toward the rear of the coach) was about 3 inches out when the front part of the slide went all the way in.... I didn't have the engine running at the time, so I thought the voltage on the rear motor was not enough to run the slide all the way in. I ran it back out, started the engine and tried to run it in again. Same results.

At this point, I put the slide in maintenance mode, where I can use the in and out button to walk the motors in individually. This didn't help either. I went back out to see what could be hindering the slide's operation. Well after looking all underneath the bottom, I see that the bottom of the slide is hitting the top of one of the cargo doors (that was the pop that I heard earlier). It is hitting the long door that is directly behind the rear wheel. It appears that the slide needs to be adjusted up some or the door adjusted down some, or a combination of both....

I can't call the dealer until Monday morning, I will be flying out to Chicago on business till Wednesday... the wife is freaking out because we leave for Disney on the 23rd... She's affraid they won't get it fixed in time...

I try to comfort her and tell her its a machine, made by human hands and that sometimes new stuff needs adjusting.... Something tells me she doesn't buy it...

Has anyone else had this type of issue on a new coach before??

Thanks for listening!!

Duane

WooHoo, just got back from the dealer to get my slide issued looked at. I got there before they opened so they could get right on the job first thing. I explained what had happened and what I tried. They take the coach in and about 45 minutes later they tell me the slide was indeed hitting one of the cargo doors, and that the slide was not ajdusted well enough at the factory. They are going to order a new door and hinge assembly, they adjusted the slide, and I'm good to go.

Good news is that we can use the coach for our maiden voyage to Florida next week, and can even use the effected cargo door until the new one comes in.

I can't praise Bill Plemmons RV in Raleigh enough on how they responded to my concerns. They came out a couple of time to explain what they found and how they would address the issue. They will call me when the new door comes in so they can get it painted and installed.
